Once again, on behalf of the Wheeling HS Community Scholarship Foundation and the inaugural recipients of the Grace Presbyterian Church Scholarship, our sincerest thanks for your generosity, care and concern demonstrated by these scholarships.

The two winners will be notified at our scholarship breakfast on Thursday, May 29 at 7am at Wheeling High School, Room 125. My understanding is that you prefer that Ms. Sisi or I present the scholarships at that time. The awrdees are:

Janice Arquiza

Aleksey Razin

Both have earned solid A grade point averages, participated in many school activities and have done various community service and volunteer projects. Copies of their essays are attached. 

Janice, who will attend Illinois State University as an Elementary Education major, wrote of a teacher who had a significant influence on her. 

Aleksey, who will attend UIC and was admitted to the prestigious "Guaranteed admission to medical school" GPPA program there,  describes two significant experiences as they relate to his high school years.

Both are model students and citizens, and have been highly positive role models for their peers here at WHS.

It's my understanding that Grace Church will write two $1,000 checks made, one each for Janice and Aleksey and send the checks to me. We will give the checks to these students once they provide formal, written evidence of enrollment at their respective colleges. Students receive certificates at the breakfast, which we will provide.
